This is a general map of our trip around Iceland. After completing our trek around Iceland we went to Heimaey, the largest island in the Westman Islands. Known as the Pompeii of the North because of the explosion of Eldfell Volcano which destroyed many buildings and forced a months-long evacuation of the entire population to mainland Iceland. We came so far that not to visit Greenland would not be prudent.
