Sri Chamundeshwari Temple  Chamundi Hill is about 13 kms from Mysore. Located at the top of the hill is the Sri Chamundeswari Temple. Chamundeswari is the slayer of demons,  Since 1399 The Mysore Maharajas have held the Goddess, Chamundeswari, in great reverence.  Devotees travel to the temple in the belief the Goddess fulfills their desires and aspirations. Besides the Chamundeswari temple, there is a monolith statue of ‘Nandi.’ It is a huge granite Nandi on the 800th step on the hill in front of a small Shiva temple. This Nandi is over 15 feet high, and 24 feet long.


  Mysore2  Going back to the hotel Gail and I grabbed a private taxi because I wanted to take some photos of the Jain Temple in Mysore.

  Srirangapatna  The town takes its name from the Ranganathaswamy temple which dominates the town, making Srirangapatna one of the most important pilgrimage sites for the followers of Vishnu in south India. The temple was built by the Ganga dynasty rulers of the area in the 9th century. During the Vijayanagar empire (1336 to 1646,) it became a major administrative center and included the vassal states of Mysore and Talakad. With the decline of the Vijayanagar empire, the rulers of Mysore asserted their independence, Srirangapatna was their first target. Raja Wodeyar vanquished Rangaraya in 1610. Wodeyar became the first Maharajas of Mysore.


  Beach Temple  Sudhakar made one of his discovery stops in a small temple. While monkeys begged for food, women washed clothes,  and men swim in the river a priest was performing pooja (rituals) with a women and her baby.
