Our Travels Around The World Travel to Louisiana

HOME Our Travels

We have made New Orleans not just a destination but a part of our family. We were certainly concerned and provided our support to the people of New Orleans after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Our heart and prayers are once again with the people of New Orleans and Louisiana after the disastrous damage caused by the Deepwater Horizon explosion and the resulting oil spreading across the Gulf of Mexico.  New Orleans and New York share common disasters.  New Orleans suffered a natural disaster with Hurricane Katrina and then a man-made disaster with the BP Gulf Oil Spill .  New York had the man-made (terrorist) attack at the World Trade Towers on September 11 and the natural disaster of  Super Storm Sandy in 2012.

Our favorite U.S. city is New Orleans Louisiana. In 1964 thru 1967 I was stationed at Kessler Air Force Base in Biloxi Mississippi and frequently went to New Orleans on weekend leave. With our four children we started visiting New Orleans in the 1980’s. It is a wonderful city – with lots of things to see and do. It is impossible to get a bad meal in New Orleans. Our favorite restaurants are Court of Two Sisters, Arnaud's, Emeril's, Mike’s on the Avenue, Crescent City Brewhouse and now Besh’s Steakhouse at the Harrahs’ Casino. But most importantly it is the people of New Orleans that keeps us coming back since our first family visit.

You cannot find more friendly people than in New Orleans. Over the years we have made so many friends that on each visit we feel we are returning home. From the Marriott Hotel on Canal Street Robert Lablanc and Chef Arthur; the shops in the French Quarter Lynn and Bianca at Chicos, John at NOPD, George at The Hard Rock Café just to name a few of the many people we call friends from our New Orleans family. New Orleans has their own Harrahs Casino and the Harrahs Hotel on Poydras Street. The people at the Harrahs’ property always treat us royally as part of their family not just visitors. At the Hotel there is Sean, Joanne, RJ, Michael, Gallo and Ronald.  At the casino is  Jon, Gordon, Scott, Miss Ida, Janet,  If you visit the Buffet at Harrahs don’t forget to say  hello to Velvet and Janice.

In April 2010 we attended a special Harrahs’ invitational event. To see some of the pictures from that extraordinary event, our Bayou Cruise and the Jazz Festival - click on the link below. Coming soon will be pictures of New Orleans, the French Quarter and the New Orleans Saints (Geaux Saints!).
