Our Travels
Day 6 Birethanti Trek • Modi River Nov 23. 2018
As the sun rises at our lodge, mountain silhouettes transform into dramatic snowy peaks against a crystal blue sky. It is time to gather for tea and coffee as we take in the unfolding of the landscape before us. After breakfast, we began our trek to the small village of Patlekhet. The village seems to naturally rise out of the hillside, in perfect harmony with the terraced rice fields. These green “steps” cascading down the hillside are a testament to the care and hard work of the people living here. We are welcomed to the village as they move through their day of feeding the animals, farming, and caring for their children.

Day 7 Return to Pokhara Nov 24, 2018
Today we begin our trek back to Pokhara. Set in a valley where ancient civilizations descended from Tibet and the Indo-Gangetic Plain, Pokhara was an important stop on the ancient trade route. The mountains around this valley are sacred to Buddhists, Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and followers of indigenous traditions. Fishtail Mountain (Machapuchare), at the center of the Annapurnas, is off-limits to climbers because of its association with the gods. We arrive in Pokhara and stroll through the shops and markets.
